postnatalBenefits:

  • Prepares for easier delivery
  • Reduces swelling, aches and pains specific to pregnancy
  • Stimulates glandular secretions which stabilises hormones
  • Increases blood circulation to the placenta
  • Reduces risk of anaemia by increasing red blood cell counts
  • Sedates the nervous system for both mother-to-be and baby

Massage is often most needed during pregnancy and post natal stages. As well as being deeply relaxing for both mother-to-be and baby it also eases conditions specific to pregnancy.

Regular massages during and after pregnancy are especially useful in helping with discomfort of swelling, oedema (fluid retention), sciatica, back and joint pain.

The nervous and endocrine systems also benefit from massage. Stabilising hormone production and reducing nervous tension induces relaxation to aid sleep for both mother and baby.

All massages are tailored to the individual, dependent on pregnancy trimester, post natal stage, and areas that require healing. Choose plain unscented oil, or aromatherapy massage blend using only oils that are suitable for pregnancy.

Please note: Massage is not recommended in the first trimester and Aroma Restoratives will not treat a client during this stage.

Really handy for me as I work just around the corner. 25 weeks pregnant and in quite a bit of pain in my lower back and swelling in the legs has started! Went for the 1 hour pregnancy massage and the therapist was great, she spent extra time on the legs to help reduce the swelling and showed me some easy techniques my husband can do at home to keep helping. She obviously knows her stuff, rather than it just being a massage.

This was my first pregnancy massage. I was 32 weeks at the time and suffering from lower back pain. I went for the 30 minute option and really enjoyed having my back, shoulders and scalp massaged. Kathryn was very professional. I’ll be booking again and will go for an hour’s session next time.

I booked a 30 minute pregnancy massage and it was exactly what I needed. Kathryn really knows her stuff(she’s trained in Bali!), and she was also happy to tailor it to any specific needs and requests. For me, she concentrated on my back , hips and finished with my face. She used her own homemade blend of oils, specific for pregnancy, which smelt amazing. The room was clean, modern & relaxing, and I agree with everyone else about the music, which was a chilled mix of Beck, Air, Lorde….not a pan pie or whale noise at all.
I’ll definitely return after the baby for a follow up massage.

Loved my pregnancy massage. Made me feel very relaxed and relieved a lot of tension I’ve had since becoming pregnancy. I will defined by going back before the baby arrives

This was my second visit to Aroma Restoratives for a pregnancy massage. I love how a little retreat is created in the treatment room. I first booked on the spur of the moment and after my first visit decided it would be a regular occurrence! We discussed areas I wanted to focus on, but Kathryn was also observant and added on some lymphatic work for my pregnant legs and feet. The whole experience was really relaxing, and left me with a great sense of wellbeing. Definitely helps with the various random aches and pains. Very much recommended!
